Tips For Moderating Eating #1

waterHere at Mirfield Hypnotherapy Centre,  we feel passionate about selling the virtues of hypnotherapy for weight reduction. Why? Because we’ve both used the system to achieve a healthier weight and size. And, although we both have a way to go yet, we’ve picked up some helpful hints and tips to help you get the most out of your hypnotherapy-based weight reduction system (e.g Hypnoslimmer).

Today, we’re sharing a top tip that many people underestimate when embarking upon or following a weight/size reduction programme.  Our top tip is drink plenty of water*.

How/Why It Works

  1. Water contains volume, so helps you feel full. And it’s calorie-free, so that’s a double win!
  2. Sometimes, the body can mistake thirst for hunger.  Therefore, seeing if a glass of water reduces your hunger might therefore save you from consuming more calories than you really need. This should prevent your weight reduction being slowed down by erroneous hunger signals.
  3. Drinking more water can increase the number of calories you burn (1) – and colder water causes you to burn even more calories as your body works to heat the water to body temperature.
  4. When you’re dehydrated, you can start to feel tired. One trick the body uses to make you feel more alert, is to get you to seek out food (2). Drinking more can help you stay more alert, which reduces that drive to seek out food.
  5. When you’re actively losing weight, your liver helps the body break down the fat cells, while your kidneys are busy getting rid of other waste. However, if your kidneys don’t get enough water to do their job properly, your liver steps in. And, if your liver is busy doing the kidneys job, it is less efficient at doing it’s own jobs, like breaking down fat cells (3).
  6. Have you ever heard the saying “fluid pushes fluid”? That means that, if you don’t drink enough, you can retain the fluid you do drink.
  7. You can only drink “so much” in a day and, if you’re drinking water, you’re not drinking higher calorie drinks.

There’s many reasons that drinking water can help – and this isn’t an exhaustive list. However, for many of us, it can be a struggle to drink enough water to observe the health benefits that come with it. Either we might not like the taste, or we just don’t enjoy drinking, or we just get busy and forget to drink. Whatever the reason, hypnotherapy may help.
